Site Assessment

The Site Assessment – provides an evaluation of the institution or department’s readiness to implement a teamwork training system. The customer decides whether to conduct a guided self-assessment, to engage a DRC consultant to perform an on-site assessment, or to rely on the customer’s own organizational self-awareness in determining the need for training.

If the customer elects to conduct a guided self-assessment or engage a DRC consultant, the MedTeams delivery will draw upon the data collected to tailor an implementation plan specific to the customer.

Self-Assessment – Surveys are administered to collect attitudes toward teamwork and patient safety, and degree of willingness to accept change in the clinical environment. The self-assessment also includes an analysis of the customer department or organizational unit’s current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT).

On-Site Assessment – A DRC consultant performs the on-site assessment.  The specific goals include the following:

▪     Gain information about the department or organization

▪     Assess the environment for current teamwork behaviors in the facility

▪     Brief clinical and administrative leaders with a framework from which to structure the steps in preparing the department for change

▪     Identify preliminary measures to evaluate the effectiveness of teamwork

The DRC consultant will analyze the on-site assessment data and provide a written report outlining the strengths and weaknesses related to the potential success of implementing teamwork training.
